PASMAA’s Rise: Mexican Business Leaders Find Their Voice In Texas

PR Newswire

HOUSTON, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In October 2021, PASMAA was little more than an idea shared by a handful of IPADE Business School graduates who had built companies in Texas. They kept running into the same gap: Mexican business leaders were helping drive the state’s economy, yet they had no common place to meet, learn from one another or be heard.

Today the Pan American Senior Management Alumni Association (PASMAA) connects a community of nearly 600 IPADE alumni across Mexico, the United States and Canada, including founders, CEOs, managing directors and investors. PASMAA maintains a close institutional relationship with IPADE, carrying the school’s case-method tradition and alumni spirit into the U.S. market. Members meet every month, and the association hosts two Magisterial Sessions a year and many networking sessions throughout the year.

The network has also grown outward. PASMAA has built alliances with the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, the Small Business Development Center, Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy and several regional business chambers. Through joint events, members have gained direct access to consular officials, small-business advisers, chamber leaders and some of the region’s leading policy researchers.

This fall’s Magisterial Session, on October 20, is the most significant yet. Members will hear from Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism from 2015 to 2018 and former head of Bancomext, the national foreign-trade bank, and from Dr. John Min, chief economist at Monex USA and a respected voice on currency risk and the U.S. economy.

“Many of us came to Texas knowing how to run a business but not knowing anyone,” said Jorge Arellano, president of PASMAA’s board. “PASMAA started as a way to fix that for each other. What keeps it growing is simple: people show up for one another, month after month.”

The session is supported by a presenting sponsor Prosperity Immigration Law, along with AOG Living, ERC, Ernest Cohen & Rothschild, Monex USA and The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership.

The work ahead is already taking shape: mentorship for executives newly arrived in the U.S., peer boards built on IPADE’s case method, and a stronger voice for Mexican business leadership from Austin to Washington. The goal is ambitious and deliberate. By 2036, PASMAA intends to be the most influential Mexican business network in the United States.
