The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, 2026. Marking the 100-day countdown to the opening, organizers unveiled the latest progress in preparations for this year’s event.

In the Country Exhibition, nearly 60 countries and international organizations have preliminarily confirmed their participation. Moldova, Romania, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will make their debut appearances. Canada will return to the Country Exhibition after an eight-year absence and has confirmed its role as one of this year’s Guest Countries of Honor. Consuls General in Shanghai from the United Kingdom, Australia, the Czech Republic and other countries noted that the CIIE has played an important role in strengthening bilateral economic and trade ties with China. They reaffirmed their continued commitment to organizing business delegations and industry associations to participate in the Expo, leveraging it as a gateway to China’s vast market.
The Business Exhibition will feature six major exhibition areas covering Intelligent Industry & Information Technology, Consumer Goods, Food and Agricultural Products, Automobile and Smart Mobility, Medical Equipment and Healthcare Products, and Trade in Services, alongside an Innovation Incubation Special Section. More than 90% of exhibition space has already been contracted, outpacing the same period last year. Nearly 1,200 companies from 94 countries and regions have signed up, including more than 250 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders.
Several internationally renowned companies will participate for the first time, including Ralph Lauren (United States), Arc’teryx (Canada), Pierre Fabre (France), and AkzoNobel (the Netherlands). The Expo will also debut a Global National Brands Showcase, highlighting iconic brands and geographical indication (GI) products from around the world. In addition, 169 companies and 27 organizations have participated in every CIIE since the inaugural edition and will earn the distinction of being a “nine-time consecutive participant”.
The Hongqiao International Economic Forum will be held under the theme “Stability, Cooperation and an Open World Economy.” Discussions will focus on topics including upholding multilateralism, new drivers of technological innovation, green and sustainable globalization, and a trusted China. A series of parallel forums and closed-door sessions will be organized. The forum will release the World Openness Report 2026 and the latest Global Openness Index, while also publishing the Report on the Development of the Capacity to Export to China for the first time.
Supporting events and cultural exchange activities will highlight the three brand initiatives. They respectively showcase intangible cultural heritage crafts and Chinese trendy cultural creations, Chinese and international cuisines, and the immersive cultural feast of “CIIE Night.”
Since its launch in 2018, the CIIE has been successfully held for eight consecutive editions, generating more than US$580 billion in cumulative intended transaction value.
As the Expo enters its ninth edition, organizers said preparations are progressing steadily and that every effort will be made to ensure a successful event. They warmly welcome businesses, organizations, and media representatives from around the world to gather in the CIIE.
